Quality & Safety:
Bombay Hospital is committed to providing patients with the highest quality care in the safest and most effective manner possible.
We work to address the three key questions patients may have regarding their care:
- Will I be safe?
- Will I receive effective treatment?
- Will I be satisfied?
Our goal is to make sure the answer to all these questions is "yes."
This YES is based on the following safety facilities we have got:
- Fire fighting system: This is the first and foremost safety feature a patient wants for him in a hospital. In Bombay Hospital, Indore we have got a very tight fire fighting system. On the roof of each room or hall, sprinkles are attached so that whenever any emergency occurs (like anything in the room catching fire, or smoke coming out) these sprinkles automatically start throwing water in all the directions, thus avoiding a big hazard.
- Laundry: We have got self-automated washing machines imported from Sweden and Denmark. These machines automatically get the water and surf for the type of cloth present in that machine.
- Supply of Electricity: There is an independent service station present in the hospital campus. It has got 2 DG sets, which starts automatically whenever the light is not there. If in any case the first DG set is not in a working condition then the other one automatically starts up.
-
Physician Credentials and Experience : We have got trained Doctors from the world-renowned institutes. The Medical Staff of Bombay Hospital believes that quality medical care begins with quality physicians. The Medical Staff sets the standards for who may practice here and monitors the performance of each physician. The ability to practice at Bombay Hospital is a privilege that is granted by the Board of Directors on the recommendation of the Medical Staff. There are approximately 45 consultants who practice regularly at Bombay Hospital. All of them are highly qualified and besides this they had got abroad training at the world's best institute of their specialization.
The five points that we keep in mind to achieve our ultimate goal is to give the patient the highest possible level of patient satisfaction.
- Patient Satisfaction
- Outcomes
- Technology
- Staff Credentials
- Culture of Safety
Patient Safety:
Your safety is central to every aspect within our hospital. It is the top priority at all levels of our organization including physicians, management, volunteers and staff throughout the hospital. The first step is in creating a Culture of Patient Safety in which information from outside sources and our own experiences is used to continually improve the care that we provide with special emphasis on prevention and in being proactive.
The Bombay Hospital Patient Safety Plan:
- Promotes involvement and partnering with each patient for their safety
- Ensures a safe patient environment throughout
- Provides accountability for patient safety
- Incorporates patient safety initiatives into all services
- Requires integration, reporting and communication of patient safety issues.
Quality Improvement Efforts:
- Hospitalist Program
Hospitalists are internal medicine physicians who provide patient care in a hospital setting only. They work collaboratively with the primary physician or other specialists as needed to ensure consistent care, and they keep the referring physician informed during the patient's hospital stay. They also are extremely knowledgeable in the discharge services available to patients.
- Intensivist Program
Bombay Hospital was one of the first hospitals in India to offer an intensivist-directed Intensive Care Unit (ICU). An intensivist is a physician who is trained and certified in the specialty of Critical Care Medicine. An intensivist-directed ICU program ensures all patients receive evidence-based, best practice medicine. Standardization of care practices improves quality of care, outcomes and costs.
Electronic Medical Record :
Once a patient is admitted to Bombay Hospital, each physician involved in his/her care may access important portions of the medical record from any Hospital computer or even at home through a special secure connection. This helps tremendously in coordinating complex medical care among the many caregivers involved in a patient's care. The results of laboratory studies are posted to the electronic record as soon as the lab completes them. In addition, physicians may view the patient's X-ray studies on the computer monitor along with the radiologist's expert interpretation of the study. All discharge summaries are accessible on-line and our physicians even sign their reports electronically.
Features :
- Allow physicians to order medications by computer (enhanced safety and a great time-saver);
- Allow nurses, technologists and physicians to enter data directly into the electronic record facilitating instantaneous access by other caregivers.
